Women and Gender Institute The WOMEN AND GENDER INSTITUTE (WAGÎ) is Miriam College’s center for research, training and advocacy on women’s rights, gender equality and non-sexist learning in support of the leadership of young women and students. It offers a cross-disciplinal perspective on women’s empowerment that is interlinked with democracy, human rights, social justice and value formation. 4	SSC. Institute of Women’s Studies The Institute of Women’s Studies, established in 1988, is an affiliate unit of the St. Scholastica's College. Its goals are: to awaken a consciousness to and provide an understanding of the woman question through formal and non-formal, alternative education; to engage in research and study on gender issues, and projects that uphold the cause of women; and to conduct outreach programs to women outside the formal educational institution.
