Award-winning actor and director, Cesar Montano appears in a TV plug on Violence Against Women (VAW) to express his support to the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW. Produced by the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) in cooperation with Campaigns & Grey and the United Nations Population Fund, the ad entitled "Man to Man" shows Montano sending the message that real men do not commit VAW.

Quezon City, November 24, 2006. Around 1000 participants from government agencies, non-government organizations and guest celebrities are expected to gather at the Quezon City Sports Club as the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), in partnership with other government bodies, formally opens the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) today.

GREAT WOMEN PROJECT MOU SIGNING. Sec. Romulo S. Neri, National Economic and Development Authority Director General and H. E. Peter Sutherland, Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines formalized the agreement between the Philippine government and the government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) on the implementation of the Gender Responsive Economic Actions for the Transformation of Women or GREAT Women Project during the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony held last November 8, 2006 at the Richmonde Hotel in Pasig City.

UN CEDAW Urges Philippines to Speed Up Legislation aimed at erasing stereotypes

The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (UN CEDAW) urged the Government of the Philippines to speed up the passage of legislation needed to erase sexual stereotypes and to strengthen efforts to combat violence against women as it considered the combined fifth and sixth periodic reports (covering the period between December 1995 and December 2003) of the Philippines to the CEDAW last August 15, 2006 at the UN Headquarter in New York,USA.
